Travelling with kids
Written by coolaid on April 17, 2010Now that summer is almost here, it’s time to make some vacation plans for the family. Traveling with kids can be either fun or stressful. It all depends on how well parents are prepared when traveling with kids. Now days, more families are taking trips traveling by road.
Traveling by road does provide parents a great flexibility. They don’t have to follow airline / train’s schedule but they can leave on their own schedule and take breaks on their own (or may be their kids’) schedule. Another big advantage of traveling by car is there is no extra luggage charge or luggage limit! You can pack all you want as long as you can fit that in your car’s trunk. You can also pack healthy snacks for your kids as well as for you to enjoy. Also, if you leave early morning, while kids are still a sleep, you can cover nice distance in early morning without hitting any traffic. When kids wake up, take a break for breakfast and hit the road again.
Sometimes it can be a challenging task to provide entertainment to kids while driving. There is a new product called Car Wraps by Lassig on www.coolkido.com, check that out.
This car wrap has different pockets to hold kids items. Before you start your journey, have your kids fill out those pockets with their own items so they know what they will be doing in the car. No more ‘Are we there yet’ questions for parents because kids will be busy.
We all know that everyone gets hungry while traveling and sometimes kids can be messy while eating in the car. No more change of clothes needed if you use Bibbitec bibs. Check them out on www.coolkido.com this item is a heaven sent for parents.
In a nutshell, if parents plan ahead and they are prepared with useful items, traveling by car can not only be fun but can create memories of a life time!
Happy summer to all!

Beginning of this month, when we did a long distance road trip with 2 young kids, we left in the wee hours (3 am). Kids were sleeping and it was a nice drive for us without any interruption. You hit no traffic, just have a cup of coffee and hit the road. By the time kids woke up, we had covered more than 75 % of drive time.
Previous comments are good but not all the time leaving early in morning or late at night is a doable due to work schedules, specially in our case. We’ve been using lap tops on which kids can watch a movie while we are driving. We rely on those electronic items which are making our lives easier specially traveling with kids. We also play games, like Volkswagon commercial, where we try to spot a volkswagon and see who spots maximum vw cars. We try to make it a fun driving for all of us and it seems to be working !
I agree with last posting on the blog, it’s not doable to leave odd hours specially with kids. If person who is driving, is tired, it adds more security issues for the family. Traveling with kids is not easy task at all but I guess going back to original entry on this blog to go prepared would make parents’ life easier when traveling with kids. I specially like those bibs, I ordered for my son.
Time to start saving up if I’m going to get behind the wheel of this bad boy
This is really good stuff, I’ll post a link to it on my facebook page.
This is just what i need! Thank a lot!
